React Presents: Spring Awakening June 14th-16 Soldier Field, Chicago IL
Chicago: The birthplace of house music. So where have all the EDM festivals been? It’s a question, that as an avid EDM fan and Chicagoan, I had been asking for a long time. React stepped up to the plate last year with the inaugural Spring Awakening Music Festival. It marked the first full EDM festival in Chicago ever. And wow, did they do it right. 75,000 fans, 5 stages, and a main stage atmosphere taking up the whole playing surface at Chicago’s famed Soldier Field. It provided an atmosphere unlike anything I’d ever been a part of, and I’ve been to many a music festival. The crowd partied hard enough to make up for the 20+ years Chicago EDM fans had been waiting for an event of this magnitude. React has a lot live up to after last year. They are more than ready to not only live up to the hype, but to top it with this year’s festivities.
Here are 3 reasons why Spring Awakening this year will be a must see event:
- Big Time Headliners and After Parties: With headliners Calvin Harris, Bassnectar, and Moby, on top of virtual headliners such as Bingo Players, Zedd, Nicky Romero, Wolfgang Gartner, Excision, and many more, the lineup should excite fans of all EDM genres. And when you leave the show each nigh and haven’t had enough, the party is far from over. There’s far too many options to list when it comes to after parties. Some of the names include Nervo, Calvin Harris, and Zed’s Dead. And for the craziest of fans, Monday morning’s closing party with Porn and Chicken is well something to experience. - Addition of a 3rd Day: What’s the best way to add even more big names and good times to a festival? It’s pretty simple, add another day. Spring Awakening will provide 3 days of music as opposed to the 2 they had last year. - Homegrown Acts: Chicago has produced a whole lot of EDM talent over the years. Several of these big names will return to the windy city to perform at Spring Awakening this year. Some of these talents include Krewella, Flosstradamus, Felix Da Housecat, and Topher Jones
