“EPIC is a one-time show, after this run we will sit down and it will change again. Once you’ve seen it, it will be gone.”
-Eric Prydz
If Prydz’s words don’t excite you then I don’t know what will. Â Today, the dates for Eric Prydz EPIC North American Tour were announced and to say we’re excited would be the understatement of this young century. Â The tour begins October 18th in New York City and culminates in Chicago. Â “When I DJ I try and take people on a journey,” said Prydz. Â “I like an environment that’s stripped down, and allows the music to speak for itself. EPIC is something else, we’re expanding the narrative-it’s a concert show…I am able to tell a story on many different levels.”
Never heard of Prydz’s EPIC show before? Well that’s because it’s only been performed three times before, all in the UK. Â EPIC is described as a journey through all three alias of Eric Prydz (Prydz, Pryda and Cirez D) featuring huge custom built projection surfaces, 3D holograms, rotational 3D mapping and laser displays. Â When first premiered in 2011, EPIC was the first ever dance event to use 3D holograms and since it’s last showing in 2012, Prydz has been working on evolving his show into an even newer format with high-res LCD parts and building upon his already genius concept.
“It’s taken us two years to get to this point,” says Prydz. “Epic has been evolving and changing, as we work to improve the fan experience, and deepen the ties between the music and the visuals.” Seeing how the man himself promises a once in a lifetime event, this EPIC tour is surely not something to miss.
