Avicii Wins Favorite EDM Artist at the American Music Awards 2013 (AMAs)

Ooooooh sometimes, I get a good feeling….It’s that time of year again! It’s the American Music Awards ceremony. One of the most talked about award was the one for ‘Favorite Artist, Electronic Dance Music’. This year Zedd, Avicii, Calvin Harris and Daft Punk were nominated and Avicii came out on top. This show, contrary to the Grammys which decide its winners based on votes from members of the Recording Academy, picks the winner based off of a public poll and music buyers.

Tim Bergling had quite the year to say the least. He was nominated for a Grammy for his hit “Levels”, toured South America for the first time, gave an unforgettable performance at Ultra (as always) by dropping music off his new album, released True, earned the #3 spot on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs, had “Wake Me Up” top all the music charts and he won his first award, “Best Electronic”, at the MTV EMA’s.

Last year was the first year the AMAs had a category for EDM, and David Guetta took home the trophy. After the year electronic music had, we predict 2014 will have a few more categories featuring this popular genre.
