While Chicago’s summer festival lineup took a blow with the announcement that the beloved Wavefront Music Festival was cancelled this year, the city’s electronic music fans will still have plenty to get excited about this upcoming Fourth of July. Riverwest Music Festival will be making its debut this weekend and is boasting a unique & diverse lineup for the inaugural event, including Excision, Deep Dish and Loco Dice to name a few.
The Windy City has often taken advantage of its more exceptional locations for music events – Lollapolooza at Grant Park, North Coast at Union Park, and more recently, Spring Awakening at Soldier Field. That trend will continue with Riverwest, which will span several dazzling blocks along the Chicago River and feature 40 different artists across three stages over the course of the weekend. Many of those names may feel notably underground compared to the headlining rosters of some of the summer’s biggest festivals, as Riverwest boasts “the world’s finest in select electronic music.” But with acts spanning from Art Department, Koze, Damian Lazarus the the likes of Adrian Lux and Morgan Page, there will truly be options for every taste.
With Wavefront temporarily out of the picture, Riverwest should likely see a pretty considerable crowd over the holiday weekend. EDMTunes will be among the lucky in attendance for this inaugural event and we’ll be excited to share the experience with all those who won’t be able to make it.
