Dust La Rock, Co-Founder of Fool’s Gold with A-Trak, Has Died At Age 38

Dust
It is with a heavy heart we have to break this news, first reported by FACT. Joshua Prince has died at the age of 38. While few details are available yet, this is a huge blow to the dance music community. Fool’s Gold has been an institution in NYC and across both the electronic and hip hop industries, after being founded by A-Trak, DJ Nick Catchdubs & Prince, better known then as Dust La Rock. This loss will be felt deeply by his partners and a lot of the artists he worked with, such as Armand Van Helden and Action Bronson. From the man himself:

We did some digging and found one of the crazy old school mixes he dropped back in 2011. This is for a Russian show called Мишка that he did with Trouble & Bass (another dope local NYC label) leading lady Star Eyes. This is one of the great ones, ladies and gentlemen, you just didn’t know it.

Numerous artists are beginning to pay their respects to Dust La Rock via Twitter:

I’ve had the luck to see the sunrise in Miami, London, Ibiza, DC, Hong Kong, Amsterdam, Prague, Casablanca, LA and of course, Black Rock City. I’ll be writing about different scenes, emerging music and wild parties. I’ve graciously been picked up by EDMTunes to provide correspondence from NYC and commentary on the changing scene.
