Nicolas Jaar Creates Soundtrack To Classic Film ‘The Color Of Pomegranates’

Nicolas

Yesterday via Facebook, the American-Chilean musician Nicolas Jaar released an alternate version of the soundtrack to the 1969 Russian film The Color Of Pomegranates. The experimental film, written and directed by Sergei Parajanov, is the biographical account of the Armenian ashug Sayat-Nova (King of Song), which tells the story by using his poems and a marjority of still camerawork – giving the movie an impressionist feel to it. The original movie was an 80 minute feature, with the USSR version being released with 5 minutes cut out. Keeping to the original, Nicolas Jaar assembled an 80 minute interpretation to go along with the movie, which you can watch together below.
