During a visit to his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri in 2012, rap legend, Tech N9ne found himself attending an Excision show. After the set, he tweeted a picture of Excision’s Executioner rig with the caption “This dub step concert is crazy!”. In response, Excision offered up his music production services to Tech via Twitter. Fast forward to 3 years later, and their merciless, metal-inspired collaboration, ‘Roadkill‘, featuring Krizz Kaliko was released on Tech’s newest and biggest debut album, Special Effects. Fast forward another few months, and the in-your-face fusion track received an epic collaborative video treatment from Monster Energy.
Tech N9ne and Excision filmed the video for ‘Roadkill’ during Excision’s live, sold-out show in Kansas City this past March, where Tech made a surprise guest appearance to perform the track to a roaring crowd of fans. The result: a high-octane video that matches the powerful energy of their genre-bending collaboration. As Tech N9ne’s first major step into the world of electronic music and the first major collaboration with a top rap artist for Excision, ‘Roadkill’ is a recipe of disaster that pristinely mixes the talent of Tech’s dynamic rhyme schemes, mind-blowing flows and speed rap abilities and Excision’s maniacal and unrelenting production perspective.
