On the tail end of a 13-date tour across North America, Baketmat’s next stop lead him to the bright lights of San Francisco to perform at the downtown club, Mezzanine. Dubbed ‘Bon Voyage’, his tour kicked off in late September in Brooklyn and snaked its way across the continent hitting major cities in both Canada and the United States. Fusing a slew of genres including electronic, deep and tropical house, and techno, the Dutch producer’s insatiable energy and upbeat sounds are the perfect combination for a memorable live show.
Sporting his customary blue and gold tipped jacket, Bakermat immediately set the stage for the rest of the night. Joined by saxophonist Ben Rodenburg from the start, the music engulfed the room with soulful vibes and a foray of uplifting and light melodies. Throughout the night, Rodenburg continually made his way back on stage to belt out some of Bakermat’s signature jazz infused tracks, including “One Day” and “Uitzicht”. Bakermat’s visuals served to accentuate his light and minimalist sound, as simple images like flowers and other beach themed images plastered the wall. The lights closely followed suit, using only two colors at once to help maintain a simplistic approach to the show. With a unique sound and style and live powerful jazz instruments, no other show can compare to Bakermat’s.
