SOPHIE – L.O.V.E.
Some producers who take forever to release new material love to release a ton of it in a short period of time quite randomly. London-based electronic music producer SOPHIE in just the last month dropped 3 tracks, which is unheard of from him. Especially when he released only 2 tracks in the last 2 years respectively. After gaining prominence with “BIPP/ELLE” and “LEMONADE/HARD,” the direction of “L.O.V.E.” is a slight turn from his previous experimentation. First of all, there are barely any vocals, aside from a haunting echoing of the letters in “L.O.V.E.” The majority of the track takes his bass to a screeching point, like if an irritating fly won’t stop buzzing around you. It’s a more difficult listen than his previous work, which is usually a bass heavy play on bubblegum pop and vocals. But the wide net SOPHIE casts on his genre will see him put forth a selection of eclectic tracks, making unpredictability a priority. Listen to “L.O.V.E.” and pre-order his debut album PRODUCT before it gets released on November 27th.
