A few weeks ago, you probably learned of the horrifying fall that landed trance legend Paul Van Dyk in the hospital with cracked vertebrae, concussion and a long road to recovery. Thankfully, Paul is expected to make a full recovery, but he will need his time off to get well again. Now, various trance events need to find suitable replacements for one of the biggest names in the genre.
Beyond Wonderland was set to host a Dreamstate stage featuring Paul and it was hard finding somebody to fill those shoes. In a surprising turn of events, Insomniac announced that it would be Andrew Rayel who would fill in. While this might result in a collective groan from the Dreamstate trance fam, this is actually a very interesting development. Andrew Rayel has plenty of experience in the harder side of trance, as anybody who followed him before he landed in the US in 2014 would know. Andrew will play a special Dreamstate set, which we can only assume is like Armin van Buuren’s ASOT sets versus his normal mainstage sets. If that’s the case, color us excited and let’s see what he’s got in store.
