Flying Lotus just can’t seem to stay away from the world of film. Prior to scoring LoveTrue, a documentary that will premiere on April 15th at the Tribeca Film Festival, he also created a chilling soundtrack for the short horror film FUCKKKYOUUU. However, this time around his musical style will most likely not be as twisted or eerie. The documentary LoveTrue is directed by Alma Har’el, an Israeli director who received the honor of Best Documentary Feature in 2011 for her production Bombay Beach. Whether or not she receives the same title from the festival, only time will tell. But if Flying Lotus’ work on the film is an indicator of its success, we can expect a wonderful production with captivating music. The documentary is also produced by Shia LaBeouf, and according to festival curator Cara Cusumano it is a “genre-bending documentary that seeks to demystify the fantasy of true love.”
