Mike Posner’s infamous track “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” has not given the city a great reputation – and its officials are taking action.
The negative connotations have left The While Isle’s tourist office unhappy with the general idea that the island is just a place to party. As a result, the tourism director, Vicent Ferrer, has invited Posner to explore the other aspects of the island.
“We have invited the author of this song to discover Ibiza because we have much more to offer besides the nightlife which is known worldwide… We have museums, beaches, culture, gastronomy, we have a wide offer but unfortunately we have been typecast this way. Unfortunately someone who wants to consume pills or alcohol can be found in any tourist destination, the fact that it is only us who are pigeonholed does not seem fair.”
Last year, we published a similar story about how Ibiza officials were attempting to put a stop to a Jersey Shore spinoff appropriately titled Ibiza Shore. The show was ultimately scratched, but there is a good chance that millions will continue listening to this song.
We’ll have to wait and see if Posner accepts the offer. If he does, it sounds like he’s going to have to leave the pills at home.
