DnB artist Jon Gooch began performing under first alias Spor in 2006, a name that he set to the side for a couple years after his Feed Me moniker was taken to the masses. However, the announcement of his Caligo album last year conjured up some major buzz in the music world, as dedicated fans longly anticipated the revival of the coveted DnB moniker with the hopes of a definitive return. Hailed as one of the UK’s best underground DnB exports, Spor’s erratic production is capable of yielding an intoxicating impact, taking you on a cataclysmic journey of grizzly and gratifying soundscapes. The resurrection of Spor allowed Gooch to go back to his roots, playing more intimate settings that are reminiscent of his early days performing in darker, low-capacity UK venues. Luckily for us, he’s released his Black Eyed EP this past May, assuring his fans not to worry, Spor will be sticking around for at least a little while longer.
For those of you seeing Spor perform at Electric Zoo on Friday, September 2nd on the Hilltop Arena stage, you’re in for a treat. This year’s festival presents a rare chance to see a blistering DnB set from one of the genre’s greats.
