If you haven’t been graced with the opportunity to catch either act jackLNDN or Goldfish, well then, that needs to change immediately. Last night at Beta Nightclub, the proclaimed #1 clubbing establishment in the United States, was lit a flame as the two artists combined forces, pushing their different styles to work together for a seamless night of stellar music.
After the opener Z-W warmed the venue up, jackLNDN brought his talents to the decks as he spun a number of records while adding to the performance a live aspect. Playing keyboard with his own accompanying vocal, he covered Disclosure’s “Holding On” to the applause of great fanfare. He continued throughout the night implementing a switch off between playing his own tunes out live and other stellar track selections.
The main act, hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, returned to the infamous nightclub after an enormous outing back in March. If there is any confusion, Goldfish is an electronic alternative band that, with their freshman album Caught in the Loop debuting in 2006, were able to open many doors, touring with the likes of Fat Boy Slim, Mr Scruff, Audio Bullys, Stereo MC’s, Basement Jaxx, Faithless, Paul van Dyk, and Pete Tong. Known for their live performances, utilizing saxophone, flute, double bass and keyboard elements to build their sets, the duo has gone on to accomplish many a great achievements. In stunning fashion, they gelled together and orchestrated a vibe not often seen at the club located on 19th and Blake.
As each artist continues to pave their separate ways through the web that is the dance music industry, be on the look out for these shining stars as their show on Thursday was the first stop on a 13 city tour.
