Once again, Kraftwerk has been nominated for this year’s Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame alongside newcomer and fellow electronic band Depeche Mode. Other artists vying for the most exclusive prize in music for 2017 include Pearl Jam, Tupac Shakur, Electric Light Orchestra, Janet Jackson, Yes, Journey, Bad Brains, Chaka Khan, Chic, The J. Geils Band, Jane’s Addiction, Joan Baez, Joe Tex, MC5, Steppenwolf, The Cars, and The Zombies. This is Kraftwerk’s fourth consecutive nomination; and there’s really no one better than the German pioneers to be the first electronic music act to be selected for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Ever since the 70’s, the 4-member group paved the way for acts such as Giorgio Moroder and Daft Punk to reach the top of the electronic music field.
In order to have been nominated for this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an artist or act must’ve released their first single or album in 1991 or earlier. Fans will once again have the opportunity to vote alongside artists and music experts in choosing which of the 19 nominees will make class of 2016, which comprises of 5 slots. They’ll be able to vote via RollingStone.com starting now through December 6th, one ballot per day.
