More and more these days, everyone is joining forces; mostly to eliminate competition. Corporations, the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors and it’s even evident in the music industry. The conglomerate SFX has been featured in a lot of our pieces this year as mismanagement caused them to break apart among other issues. Spin, Vibe and Stereogum were recently purchased by Billboard-THR to become the industry’s largest media network for digital traffic, social reach, and audience share. Now, booking agencies are taking their turn. Windish and AM Only are heading over to Paradigm Agency. While this isn’t really a surprise to anyone in the music scene, especially since last November, Paradigm, AM Only and Windish all went in on an office space together in New York City.
Paul Morris, CEO of AM Only:
“By combining forces with Monterey Peninsula Artists, Little Big Man and, now, AM Only and Windish, Paradigm has built an inclusive culture that keeps the spirit of these independent companies alive which allows our unique attributes to continue to flourish within the unified agency.”
While the news of yet another merger, this specific situation could make the process of a multi genre lineup (besides festivals) more realstic as well as some interesting collaborations. We will just have to wait and see.
