Beshken, aka Ben Shirken, is one of the most promising young beatmakers we’ve heard recently. Today, he has released the first single off a forthcoming EP, a track called ‘The Roman Call’. The song was released in conjunction with a music video, check it out below:
The name of the song comes from a tragic incident that happened in Rome last summer, when Beshken had his laptop and hard-drive stolen while waiting for a train to Florence in Rome’s Termini Station. He was just about to release a project before the ordeal, and in a matter of seconds, he lost over a year’s worth of work. Despite the massive agony caused by the incident, Beshken instead tried to find the opportunity in the situation, soon realizing that this was a ‘calling’ of sorts, pushing him to create even more complex, creative, and lyrical than the music he had made prior to the incident in Rome.
