For those who don’t know, a bot is an application that does automated tasks like putting an event into your calendar, hands-free calling or getting directions. Most bots are voice activated and programmed to talk to you like a human/robot helper versus using a search engine i.e. Siri and Cortana. Bots can be found in a lot of places on the internet. One of those places is Facebook, specifically Facebook Messenger.

Facebook Messenger bots monetize the power of Facebook into a marketing goldmine for companies and news publications, allowing people to search, shop, order, and browse like they never have before. Now, Spotify is launching their own bot on Messenger where users can share music in their chats without having to exit Facebook to listen on the Spotify app separately. Here’s what the company had to say about their new endeavor:

“The Spotify bot for Messenger will serve up playlist recommendations based on mood, activity, or genres. With the associated Messenger Chat Extensions feature, people can search and share Spotify songs, albums, and playlists directly with friends without ever leaving the Messenger app. For the first time ever, friends on the other end will be able to preview 30-second clips directly within the Messenger app or visit the Spotify app to listen in full”.

As shown in the picture above, it appears to be user-friendly, simple, and convenient. The new chat extension is available here. Give it a try and let us know if you like it!
