Treasure Hunt In Wales: LSD Supplies From 1977 Might Be Hidden In The Area

Yes, it sounds like an urban legend, but recent leads might indicate it’s true: a stash of LSD is allegedly hidden in Wales, and police are warning citizens to not try to find it.

It all goes back to 1977, when a police operation called “Operation Julie” followed the leads found in a car crash and eventually raided a mansion with more than 7.6 million pounds worth of LSD tabs, as well as the ingredient to make millions more.

Now, the insights of the operation have been all made public in the memoirs of Stephen Bentley, a former police officer. In his book, called Undercover: Operation Julie (2016), Bentley claims: “The investigation involved 11 police forces throughout England and Wales over a 2 ½-year period. It resulted in the break-up of one of the largest LSD manufacturing in the world”.

Bentley also stated in his book that after working for years in the investigation, he’s certain that not all of the stash was found. He believes some of it is still buried in a woodland near Plas Llysyn, waiting for anyone to discover it.

As a result of this, the police department in the Welsh village of Carno is assessing the information and evaluating if the disclosure requires further investigation. They are also taking preventative measures to ensure the citizens are aware of the situation, as well as enlarging the vigilance in the area.

A police spokesperson said:

“We will be making the current owners of Plas Llysyn aware of the disclosure and the potential for persons to visit the area in an attempt to locate the drugs. We will be providing them with reassurance through increased patrols.

We would also like to make it clear Dyfed-Powys police take a robust approach to drug trafficking and that appropriate action will be taken in respect of anyone suspected of using the information disclosed to assist them in obtaining and supplying controlled drugs.

So, ravers be warned: a psychedelic treasure hunt at Plas Llysyn might not be as exciting as it seems.
