Ben Gold – Twilight EP
Ben Gold, a versatile trance DJ and producer, brings you his long awaited Twilight EP featured on Armin van Buuren‘s sub-label Who’s Afraid of 138?!. Gold has been a staple of the Armada Musicartist registry, never afraid to push the boundaries of the trance genre with his energetic live sets and releases. His track “I’m In A State of Trance” was the official anthem for ASOT 750 and he was even dubbed as the “Future of Trance Music” by Armada Music. It should come as no surprise that his music has been supported by trance icons Armin van Buuren, John O’Callaghan and Markus Schulz.
His Twilight EP, released on August 25th, 2017, brings you a fiercely aggressive trance original titled “Twilight” and also features a remix of Gold’s “Pilot” by Exis.
Twilight opens with a powerful repetitive gated synthesizer and standard trance drum pattern. The track progresses into a descending chromatic melodic line – quickly establishing an ominous atmosphere that is driven by the kick drum. This is definitely an original we’ll see featured in trance sets. While “Pilot” is already a trance classic, this remix brings you the full psytrance interpretation. Exis uses the original melodic line from Gold, adding slight variations here and there, but the real magic comes from the added classic psytrance triplet bass pattern that quickly transitions to an even more syncopated bass pattern. All of this pitted against the melody gives an extremely driving and aggressive feel to the track.
