Diplo Is Snubbed By Rihanna & Considers Himself Too Old for Jack Ü
Even the biggest players in the game face rejection. Diplo has come forward in an interview with “GQ” to tell of the time Rihanna completely rejected his music, and not only rejected but in true Rihanna form — roasted him.
Diplo states that he sought out Rihanna to collaborate on the now hugely successful ‘Lean On’” ft. DJ Snake only to be met with an indifferent pass. “I don’t do house music,” stated the sharp-tongued songstress. The jab was enough for Diplo to “face-palm so hard.” Things all worked out in the end as they always do and MØ went onto lend her sleek vocals to the smash hit; which has garnered over a billion with a “b” views on Spotify to date.
This isolated event, however, wasn’t the last of Diplo’s dedicated persistence.
“Another time I had a session with her, and Future was also invited,” Diplo elaborated, “The Weeknd was there. Metro Boomin was there before anybody knew who he was. I was so contact high. Future played her, like, 700 songs. It was four in the morning. Finally, I was like, yo, G, I’m leaving unless you let me play her a song. So I played her a song. And she was like, this sounds like a reggae song at an airport. [laughs] I was like, I’m gonna go kill myself.”
Poor Diplo, dude just got himself served on a plate by Rihanna in less than 10 words. On top of that, he states in the same interview that he feels too old for his Jack Ü side project. Instead, he wants to participate in something more aligned with his age. Is this the end of Jack Ü as we know it? Or just an ironic promotional stunt for his new ViceLand series?
