New Sound Regulations For Amsterdam Festivals Up for Debate

It’s too lit in Amsterdam. According to the Amsterdam City Council, a new regulatory sound policy is up on the chopping block. The new policy would impose a strict 85-decibel restriction on all large-scale music events in the city.

If this proposal passed, it would be in compliance with initiatives to lower noise pollution and appease the local residents. Festival organizers are working diligently to meet both the expectations of the city and the quality standards of sound on the ground.

This strict policy creates of set of hurdles for festival organizers that will surely effect genres such as dubstep, techno, and other intense bass-heavy styles. Festivals located outside of the city’s center will most likely not be affected by the strict limitations.
