It’s hard to believe that it’s been a whole month since the passing of Avicii.
The sudden news of his passing broke hearts around the world, as many producers, DJs, and fans felt the pain of his death. The producer was found dead in his hotel room in Oman, the Middle Eastern country bordering Saudi Arabia. Bergling’s family said he struggled with his thoughts and “could not go on any longer”. It was released earlier this month that he committed suicide using a broken wine bottle.
He was indeed one of the most popular and successful electronic dance-music artists of all time. He scored a No. 4 hit on the Billboard 200 in 2013 with ‘Wake Me Up‘ and regularly appeared in the Top 5 of Forbes’ “Highest-Paid DJs” lists. Even after his death, fans took to Spotify to remember his music. Avicii could be found in 20 spots in the music streaming giant’s Top 50 list in Sweden, and in nine incredible spots in the Top 10.
Additionally, at Sunday night’s 2018 Billboard Music Awards, The Chainsmokers and Halsey were the latest artists to pay tribute to Avicii with a heartfelt message about the ‘Levels’ star’s enduring influence. “His passing was a great loss for the music world and for us,” The Chainsmokers’ Drew Taggart said. “He was an artist who inspired so many in so many ways, and simply put, he meant so much to us and everyone in the EDM community.”
Speculation has stirred around Avicii’s funeral plans since his death, and finally, we have some answers.
The family of Tim Bergling has released a statement regarding their funeral plans, which they wish to be private.
“There have been many inquiries regarding the funeral arrangements for Tim Bergling, known by music fans as Avicii,” the statement reads. “The Bergling family has now confirmed that the funeral will be private, in the presence of the people who were closest to Tim. They kindly ask media to respect this. There is no additional information forthcoming.”
