The Essential Mix on BBC 1 Radio has been a staple in electronic music culture since its inception in 1993. With millions of listeners every week, the show is a perfect platform for producers to show their talent to the world for two, uninterrupted hours. Essential Mix has seen sets from Carl Cox, Eric Prydz, Swedish House Mafia, Above & Beyond, Skrillex, deadmau5 and so many more. This week, the Grammy-nominated duo Camelphat took over to bring us some unequivocally incredible deep house and techno sounds.
Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala, the duo that make up Camelphat consistently push boundaries with their music. Their unusual crossover track ‘Cola’ with Elderbrook was heard on dance floors around the world last year, and eventually made its way to the Recording Academy where it was nominated for Best Dance Recording Award. Since then, the camels have released two EPs, and have been playing shows across the world.
