Fluencee – Foxgloves EP
Up until a few days ago, I had never heard of the Los Angeles-based Fluencee. After having the chance to listen to his new Foxgloves EP, I don’t think I’ll be able to forget him. Fluencee, whose real name is Jason Heffler, makes a sonic statement through his latest offering. He is able to take the listener on a journey of emotion & sound, sharing with us the vibes we can only assume he has experienced first hand.
The EP features five unique tracks, each with their own compelling emotions & themes. I must warn you, if you’ve recently experienced heartbreak, this may induce tears. The opening track of the EP is ‘Foxgloves’, and trust me when I say that it hits like a 1990s-era Mike Tyson. The track features a sultry saxophone lead, along with some rather sorrowful lyrics.
The second track ‘Find Someone Else‘ shares the vibe of a lover who’s been taken for granted and is fed up. The third track ‘Burning Me‘ follows this up by speaking on the realization that things were never really that good to begin with. ‘Unattainable‘ is a future bass track, that is jam-packed with ear candy, as well as other unique sound design that we’ve never really heard before. The EP concludes with a tune that is just as powerful as its opening track. This one is called ‘Tell Me You Love Me‘, and as you could probably guess, it’s about one lover telling the other to say that they love them, and they’re sorry.
After having listened to the EP in whole, this is something we would listen to again. It is easy to see that Fluencee bares all, allowing us a glimpse into his heart. In the words of Heffler himself:
“This record…explores bullying, loss of love, and a number of other motifs that have shaped who I am today. And I couldn’t be more proud of it.“
With that being said, it’s easy to imagine some of the situations Fluencee has experienced, only because these issues can happen to any of us. Fluencee’s Foxgloves EP is out now and can be streamed below. Enjoy!
