Amsterdam Dance Event In Style: Best Events Day By Day
Besides having a great choice of conferences and networking events, ADE also had an impressive festival agenda for all tastes, where literally every DJ you could hope for had a show to throw. EDMTunes selected the best events of the week and brought them all to you in this fine list. Have a look at it below and beware, you might get an irresistible urge of booking a flight to Amsterdam for next year’s ADE.
Wednesday, October 17th: GAIA
If we could name one artist that basically owns the current state of electronic dance music, this would be Armin van Buuren. He’s been active in the industry since its early beginnings, and we could never get tired of his ageless style.
Armin also has a partner in crime, Benno de Goeij, and together they form the duo GAIA. Surrounded with a bit of mystery and some kind of enigmatic identity, GAIA is not only about Trance. Together, Armin and Benno have a very ethereal sound, eclectic if we must say, with melodies that enter into your ears and leave a mark in every little part of your brain.
Gaia doesn’t perform too often. But when they do, their sets are really something special. Watch some footage of the evening here.
Thursday, October 18th: Awakenings x Adam Beyer presents Drumcode
ADE would not be complete without (at least) one Awakenings Event. Over the years, these artists have been taking over the Gashouder in Amsterdam and bringing the finest artists in Techno. Â On Thursday, the lineup had an impressive bill, with Amelie Lens, Nicole Moudaber, Adam Beyer and more. Techno at its best.
Friday, October 19th: Audio Obscura x Adriatique
Friday was a busy day. events happening all over the place and at all times. For this day, our choice couldn’t be better: Adriatique playing in the early morning at The Loft. With a unique view of the city during sunrise, their deep techno set was something absolutely perfect, the best way to relax after a hard Thursday night. And this was just the beginning, as another flawless edition of Awakenings x Maceo Plex presents Mosaic were awaiting of us later in the day, that was even better than the day before.
Saturday, October 20th: Audio Obscura x Mariel Ito and Afterlife
Another Audio Obscura event that was too good to be true. Right in the middle of Central Station, a very simple set up was enough for Mariel Ito, a.k.a. Maceo Plex, to take his small audience into a space journey. Less than 300 people were there, making the set exclusive and unforgettable.
On the other side of town, Amsterdam Music Festival gathered more than 40,000 attendees who literally owned the night. While the countdown of DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs was taking place on the big screens, artists such as Lost Frequencies, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Vini Vici and Salvatore Ganacci made the crowd dance like there was no tomorrow. And of course, the most awaited show of all: Martin Garrix, DJ Mag’s #1 DJ for the third consecutive year, who celebrated the triumph with a great performance for all his fans.
Sunday, October 21st: elrow goes to ADE – Extra Sunday Edition
Elrow’s ADE festivities are always something to look forward to. On Saturday, with the theme of Chinese Row Year, the impressive lineup included the likes of Andrea Oliva, Mathias Kaden and Bastian Bux, and also had some wonderful carnivalesque presentations and fairytale moments.
On Sunday, after 4 days of techno in all of its forms, it was about time to get the glitter on. Elrow’s Sunday extra ADE party was the cherry on top of the cake, and the perfect way to wrap up our week. Artists on the bill were Joris Voorn and Andres Campo among others, but there was also a special artist that has been recently killing it at festivals during this past year: Fisher, who had the audience having the time of their lives as he played his most recent hit ‘Losing It’.
Now that ADE is over, we can’t wait for the next edition to take place. For all the hightlights about this massive celebration, click here.
