A few days prior to Second Sky Festival, Porter Robinson announced that there was going to be a charity aspect of the event. They would be raising money for the Robinson Malawi Fund. A charity that Porter started in honor of his younger brother, Mark.

The goal was to raise $50,000. With a combination of in-person donations, online donations, and a dollar from each ticket sold, $77,000 was raised. Porter himself matched that, which brought the total to $154,000.

The fund’s mission is to raise money in partnership with UNC Medicine. They offer medical care to the children of Malawi who suffer from the same cancer that Mark had, Burkitt Lymphoma.

At the festival, there was a booth for the foundation. One of Mark’s doctors, Dr. Westmoreland, was there to talk about the Fund, and what the money would be used for.

Seeing the community come together for such a good cause is really inspiring! Even though the festival is over, you can still donate. According to Mark, online donations will be open in perpetuity. Go here to donate, if you can.
