The wait is now over. Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, better known as Knife Party, released their ‘Lost Souls EP‘. Tracing 2015’s ‘Trigger Warning EP‘, their newest body of work hosts 4 tracks. This comes on the cuffs of them reeling back towards working on the fan-beloved Pendulum project. Before the full release, Rob chatted with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 regarding the EP and what’s to come.

After their updates, previews and snippets throughout Knifecast episodes, the official release completes the picture. Kicking off the EP, ‘No Saint‘ resonates with the impactful and punchy percussive elements. The track utilizes its power, bright plucks and additive synths for a familiar sound from the duo.

From that point, they jump to the title track ‘Lost Souls‘ which listeners might recognize. Knifecast previously played it allowing it to gain some notoriety for its humorous touch. Playing on Excision‘s Lost Lands festival name, Knife Party answered fans asking them for more dubstep productions.

Taking to the second half of the ‘Lost Souls EP’, ‘Death & Desire‘ hosts the only feature by Harrison. Rob elaborated on the decision of having Harrison on the record in the talk with Zane Lowe. It’s certainly the stand-out catchy track across the EP. Rob himself layed out the vocal topline towards the beginning, but decided the feature was more suitable. With that in mind, Lowe deemed it the “World Record” when debuting it before the EP’s release.

Finally, another familiar track from the 12th episode of the podcast closes out their body of work. ‘Ghost Train‘ retains a groovy and hard hitting dance element to it, and as the name would have it, plays on the sound of a train whistle.
