HARD Summer 2019 takes off at the Speedway in Fontana from Saturday, August 3rd to Sunday, August 4th. The 18+ festival features an insane array of talented artists, both established and upcoming. In this article, I will break down some of the must-see sets for the weekend.
Excision B2B NGHTMRE
Where to begin? This B2B is a match made in bass heaven. Both artists have been on absolute fire, and continue to take the electronic music realm by storm with every release. The matter of fact is that there is a plethora of tracks, both from Excision and NGHTMRE, that will potentially be played in this massive set. Get excited, headbangers.
Alison Wonderland
Alison Wonderland is a force to be reckoned with. Her live shows are a complete spiritual experience (FMUOSL). If you have never seen a live set, be prepared to have your mind blown. Her visuals, her interaction & respect towards her fans and her overall aura is unmatched. Recently she has pointed out the progress she has made as an artist, expressing how insane it feels to play the majority of her own music at her shows.
Ghastly
Ghastly had an epic performance at HARD Summer 2018, highlighting tracks from his debut album The Mystifying Oracle. He is guaranteed to throw down during his set, mixing tracks old and new. Ghastly’s progress as an artist is undeniable, and it will be exciting to see what he has in store for us at HARD 2019.
Kasbo
Swedish producer Kasbo has made lots of festival appearances over the last two years. He released his debut LP in 2018 under ODESZA‘s Foreign Family Collective and Counter Records. His sound is extremely vibey, and is brought to life alongside his memorizing visuals. Check out his set for an emotional, groovy set.
Wuki
Los Angeles based producer Wuki has mastered his unique electro, hard-hitting sound. He has crafted insane remixes for artists all across the board including The Chainsmokers, RL Grime, Kill The Noise, Galantis and more. Check out his set if you want to dance and get funky.
GG Magree
GG Magree is an absolute boss. She has an incredible energy about her, and takes on the roles of trap/bass DJ, vocalist and producer. You are guaranteed to rock out during her set – prepare yourself.
DROELOE
Dutch duo DROELOE (pronounced “drü lü”) will certainly wow the crowd at HARD. Part music project and part art project, DROELOE seeks to provide a hybrid audiovisual experience for its fans. DROELOE is recognized in Billboard Dance’s “Ones to Watch” series as “dynamic, compelling and drenched in otherworldly emotions“. Check out this epic project – you won’t be disappointed.
DJ Diesel
If you had told me five years ago that Shaquille O’Neal would be an emerging artist in electronic music, I wouldn’t have believed you. But it is 2019, and here we are. Going by his stage name DJ Diesel, Shaq, displays an undeniable passion for music. If you are lucky, you may even run into him in the GA section on the rail – he loves to support other artists from the crowd.
Kayzo
Kayzo‘s latest releases have been centralized on meshing electronic and metal/alternative music together. He has been instrumental in this genre crossover movement, and he brings irresistible, wild energy to his live sets. From hardstyle to hard bass, Kayzo will have you tuned into the stage his entire set.
RL Grime
RL Grime is in a league of his own. His music is infectious, and the hype around his live sets is unreal. In 2018, he released his new album NOVA. Since then, he released NOVA (The Remixes, Vol 1 and Vol 2), as well as an instrumental album, NOVA Pure. In addition to his newer music, his OG tracks and stage production elements are certain to blow away the crowd.
Anna Lunoe
Australian DJ and producer Anna Lunoe is set to throw down this year at HARD. Fun fact: she headlined her own stage at HARD Summer’s 10 year anniversary at 8 months pregnant. Be prepared to get down and boogie with this crowd-favorite.
Graves
Graves has made some serious moves in 2019. With an intense signature sound, his set will be full of bass and insane energy from this up and coming artist.
Dom Dolla
Australian DJ and producer Dom Dolla has had a momentous year thus far, having played sets at Coachella, EDC Las Vegas and Tomorrowland. Most recently, he was named one of this years’ “rising stars” by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. His signature sound plays upon an anthem-like house music vibe. From remixes to tracks of his own, this is a set you don’t want to miss.
Some more insane sets to catch include ZHU B2B Tchami, DJ Snake B2B Malaa, Kill The Noise and Blanke, among countless others. Enjoy yourselves at HARD Summer 2019, and be prepared for the 100-degree heat!
