In a digital world, credit isn’t always given when it’s due. However, TIDAL wants to help give those involved in music creation their fair acknowledgment.

Often times songwriters, sound engineers, producers and more aren’t given easily recognizable credit on music platforms. But, Jay-Z‘s music service revealed July 2nd that is is working with artists and labels to expand its credits database.

As of now, TIDAL users can see expanded credits on Artist’s pages. By tapping underneath the artist’s name, users are able to see the “enhanced credits” feature.

Users are even able to narrow searches to the role an artist played in certain songs from songwriter to composer. Furthermore, TIDAL users could go as far as filtering songs by an artist produced by a certain producer.

The new enhanced database wants to encourage users to appreciate all aspects of the music created. TIDAL says the expanded credits connects listeners to artists in unique ways.

“As a music streaming service and culture hub, it is important to acknowledge that music is a team sport – it takes a talented crew of sound engineers, lyricists, and band members to make a song stick.”

While this metadata enlargement comes as big news from the music service, TIDAL isn’t the only one working to expand artist credits. In 2018, Spotify began displaying credits for songwriters and producers.

TIDAL has improved its music service on multiple levels this year. The service announced an artist grant program called ‘Tidal Unplugged’ in February and expanded its Masters Quality Audio to its iPhone app in March.

In October of last year, TIDAL worked with Serato to allow users to integrate their TIDAL tracks while mixing.
