Untouched since its original release, Cosmic Gate are breathing new life into one of their classics with ‘The Wave 2.0‘. The track is now available on the duo’s Wake Your Mind Records under Black Hole Recordings. This comes to us playing a part in the upcoming ‘20 Years Forward Ever Backward Never‘ album next Friday. In regards to how it ties in, both Nic Chagall and Bossi exclaimed:
as Bossi observes – “something of a DJs’ favourite. It’s the one we always get asked ‘can we remix it?’ but for some reason or other the timing’s never been right”. “So, picks up Nic Chagall, when it came time for ‘20 Years [Forward Ever Backward Never]’s production we said – come what may – ‘The Wave’ has to play its part.”
The goal in mind was not to recreate the track or revamp it, but rather to entertain an idea. In the words of Nic;
“how the track would sound if it was first produced it 2019. So inevitably there are parts, aspects, FX, etc that came out and other elements developed alongside its new arrangement, which came in to individualize it.”
‘The Wave 2.0’ quickly hits with a rush of nostalgia if you’ve heard the anthemic early iteration. Immediately jumping into the track which bursts with new vigor delivers on the deep and acidic intro. Percussive and melodic elements begin to swarm the breakdown building into the bright and ethereal large pads. Finally, this entirely builds into the saturated drop bringing its distinctive elements together.
