Facebook has dominated the social media world for many years. Now, the Facebook team is implementing name-changes to Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp; so there is more clarity of their ownership of the two applications.
Instagram and WhatsApp will be renamed to ‘Instagram from Facebook‘ and ‘WhatsApp from Facebook‘. Although these changes are small, they are going to be major for Facebook as a whole franchise.
‘We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook,’ a company spokesman said of the update.Yahoo News
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg also plans to increase ways where Instagram users can shop online for their favorite brands; as well as giving emerging creators a powerful new way to build a business and sustain their community. With WhatsApp, Facebook is more focused on building ways users would want to interact in this digital living room. According to Zuckerberg, WhatsApp’s status is already the most popular ephemeral stories product in the world. Zuckerberg plans to continue to see good momentum with WhatsApp.
Facebook has special plans for Messenger by rewriting the app to make it faster and more secure for users. With this new foundation for Messenger; Facebook is starting to explore how a private social platform could become the center of a social media experience. These upcoming changes to messenger will open up ways for users to interact privately in the future.
Throughout the last few years, Facebook bought Instagram for approximately $1 billion; Facebook also bought WhatsApp for $19 billion and found ways to increase usage of their messenger outlet.
