The intuitive ones among us may have foreseen this announcement with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s latest club mix of ‘Mortal Kombat Anthem.’
The DJ duo are officially entering the world of video games with the launch of their eSports organization ‘SMASH Esports’.
Carrying the same name as their music label ‘Smash the House,’ SMASH Esports will make their debut with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, after having signed on a roster previously playing under the ‘NoChance’ name.
The team currently includes Mikail “Maikelele” Bill, Martin “Styko” Styk, Pavle “Maden” Boskovic, Kevin “kRYSTAL” Amend, Jesse “zehN” Linjala and Coach Jonatan “Devilwalk” Lundberg. SMASH is reported to venture into other games in the future.
They used to give you #NoChance but from now on they will #eatsleepSMASHrepeat. @dimitrivegas and @likemike welcome @maikelele @zehncsgo @STYKOcsgo @kRYSTALcsgoo @madennCS @DevilwalkCSGOD to the ???SMASH???family pic.twitter.com/VcgvqkHhXS

The announcement itself comes as no surprise as Dimitri Vegas has always been open about his passion for video gaming;. and his latest statement says it all:
“Anyone who knows me, or follows me online, will know that I’m a dedicated gamer. Although I’ve committed my life to music, gaming was there from my earliest memory. So, to be able to formulate this organization and turn a dream of mine into a reality within the eSports world is a project I am 100% committed on. We’re going to do some truly amazing things in the world of eSports with this organization!“
Moreover, eSports has been increasingly integrated with the electronic music realm; with recent news such as LiveXLive looking to integrate eSports into music festivals; while Nicky Romero was looking to join Steve Aoki as an investor in eSports just a few months back.
We wish DVLM all the best with this new venture of theirs; and there’s no better way to do that than with the video-game centric official ‘Mortal Kombat Anthem’ video.
