Have you ever used “Dark Mode” on your Mac? Did you ever want to utilize a similar feature on Instagram? Well you are in luck. It appears that Instagram is testing a similar feature.
Instagram is testing a brand new dark theme feature. Furthermore, the new feature being tested will work as an AMOLED theme. With this type of theme the blacks tend to be deeper and blacker compared to LCD. The theme also works by lighting up and turning off certain pixels. The feature will be running on Android 10 and will enable dark mode.
Is Instagram Testing Removing Likes Too
More and more news has been popping up that Instagram might be removing like counts. This initiative started in May when Instagram announced they were testing removing the feature. Initially starting in Canada, the testing is now expanding to more countries. Currently, the testing includes: Ireland, Italy, Japan, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand. In a statement made to The Verge, Instagram explained the reasoning behind the possible change:
“WE’RE NOT TESTING THIS AT THE MOMENT, BUT EXPLORING WAYS TO REDUCE PRESSURE ON INSTAGRAM IS SOMETHING WE’RE ALWAYS THINKING ABOUT.”
All in all, it looks like Instagram is making some bold changes to the interface. While a flashy dark mode will help attract users, hiding likes could change the way users interact with the app.
