Spotify Introduces SoundBetter, New Production Marketplace

Spotify has announced new plans to adopt a new production and collaboration marketplace called SoundBetter. The global audio platform is an effort to help artists expand, connect, and distribute music to those seeking license agreements.

Merged under Spotify for Artists, SoundBetter provides artists with a wide range of resources to support track management and promotion. In addition, it even allows users to post job listings for those seeking or offering professional audio services.

“SoundBetter offers a most comprehensive global marketplace for music and audio produciton professionals for hire in the world along with a member community spanning 176 countries and 14,000 cities worldwide,” said SoundBetter co-founder and CEO Shachar Gilad.

Launched in 2012, Brooklyn-based SoundBetter has offered management services for musicians to source vocalists, producers, audio engineers, and more. Its paid out $19 million to its 180,000 registered users to date.

“As we build out tools for creators, we want to give them the resources they need to thrive. SoundBetter has the same vision,” said Beckwith Kloss, VP product and creator at Spotify.

Although financial terms were not disclosed, the introduction of SoundBetter opens the door to brand-new production program opportunities to Spotify’s 232 million users.
