Spotify has been absolutely killing it. Their “Wrapped” feature gives fans an insight into their listening history from the last year, including which artist they listened to the most. The streaming service even featured “My Decade Wrapped“. It is incredibly interesting to see how statistics speak volumes, especially when it comes to musical preferences. Recently, YouTube jumped on the bandwagon by unveiling its Top 40 most popular tracks of all time.
Like Spotify, the statistics revealed some undeniably compelling facts. For example, shockingly enough, only one song from the ’80s and ’90s crossed the one billion YouTube streams threshold. Interestingly, both of the tracks are by Guns N’ Roses. Furthermore, Michael Jackson, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran and Guns N’ Roses all have at least two tracks among the list. Moreover, Rick Astley‘s ‘Never Gonna Give You Up‘ locked down the 40th spot, meanwhile Luis Fonsi‘s ‘Despacito‘ achieved over six billion streams since its release in 2017, landing it as the #1 spot!
