One of the biggest event companies in the game is suing USC events. Insomniac has filed a lawsuit against USC’s parent company, Conscious Entertainment Group. This is including their CEO Chad Anderson, about an alleged misuse of funds.

The claims came to light during their partnership with the Paradiso Festival in 2019. The complaint is titled “Insomniac Holdings, LLC v. Conscious Entertainment Group, LLC et al“. While the complaint is hefty, it is stating that Insomniac advanced $2 million+ to USC. This was in an effort to be sure the organization had ample cash flow for paying vendors, but they didn’t follow through. Furthermore, CEO Chad Anderson alerted Insomniac that USC in fact failed with making payments to recipients on the first day of the event, June 14.

This forced Insomniac to end up paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in artist fees following the incident. This included $215,055 to Paradigm Talent Agency, and $638,650 to United Talent Agency. Speaking with EDM.com, a USC employee spoke about Conscious Entertainment Group CEO Chad Anderson:

Chad is the literal king of gaslighting and manipulation and had us thinking Insomniac was just fucking us over…To us, they were the ones drawing out the process and we had no idea, so this is all new information to me too … I was told we were waiting for the settlement to pay the upset vendors. I didn’t know any better, but now that I do I’m even more pissed than I was.

Hopes of Hosting Event at Gorge Amphitheatre without USC

With all of this in mind, Insomniac shared hopes of hosting their own event independently of USC. A passage from the complaint reads “Insomniac wishes to promote an electronic dance music event at the Gorge Amphitheatre this summer without USC’s involvement…”. Perhaps we will see Insomniac host an event at the Gorge Ampitheatre this summer, stay tuned for updates!
