Today, Lane 8 shared his label’s release of a new EP by Sultan + Shepard called, Kochi. He also shared a personal tale of how the duo’s music created “one of the happiest moments” of his life and inspired him to achieve what he has today.
Daniel Goldstein, who goes by Lane 8, made the confession in a Facebook post on Thursday. He called himself “a wide eyed college kid” about a decade ago in Los Angeles at Electric Daisy Carnival. That was where he heard the duo’s remix of an iconic Kaskade song.
Goldstein recalled “big white balloons raining down from the sky” as Kaskade played a ‘Fire in Your New Shoes‘ remix. The remix was by Sultan & Ned Shepard (their old stage name).
“It was probably one of the happiest moments of my life up to that point and in general a night that continued to push me in the direction of pursuing electronic music as intensely as i have,” Goldstein wrote.
Goldstein was “very very excited to get a batch of demos from these two out of the blue a few months ago.” He added that Sultan + Shepard’s three-track Kochi EP “fit so seamlessly“ with his This Never Happened record label.
Mutual Love
Shortly after, Sultan + Shepard tweeted they were “so excited” and have been “super inspired” by Lane 8’s music.
Goldstein added a comment to his own Facebook post. “Very excited to have Sultan + Shepard joining me in Detroit and Chicago on the Brightest Lights tour!!” he wrote.
Lane 8 released his Brightest Lights album last month on This Never Happened. TNH is also his policy to experience his shows in the moment without recording them. Goldstein is signed to Anjunadeep as well.
Sultan + Shepard’s Kocki EP includes three tracks: ‘Kochi,’ ‘Tayrona‘ and ‘Ayla.’ They indeed have the melodic and deep house sound that Lane 8 is known and praised for. Listen on Spotify here.
