Ferry Corsten Releases First Single, ‘Dark Water’ And Announces Album ‘As Above So Below’

Ferry Corsten has just released a new single, ‘Dark Water‘, under his alias FERR with Geronimo Snijtsheuvel. He has also announced a new album, As Above So Below.

The Album

Corsten explains in a letter to his fans that the album is a personal passion project. It’s something to decompress and experiment with, given his love for ambient orchestral soundscapes. He cited that his inspiration comes from the likes of Jon Hopkins and Nils Frahm.

This will be something quite moving to experience from someone who has been creating such iconic energetic songs for years. We’re incredibly interested to hear what he’s got in store. I’ve personally always been a huge fan of ambient orchestral arrangements, no matter the artist’s primary genre. I think it’s a beautiful way to show how dynamic you can be as a musician.

After listening to Corsten for years, I’m looking forward to this new expanse he’s introducing us to – especially something so personal. He’s had past experience composing the soundtrack for the film Don’t Go as well. So while this is not completely new territory for him, it will be only the third in his more orchestral ambient releases.

The Single

The new single is beautifully simple and very much seems to be a dive head-first into dark waters. It’s layered with subtle elements that flow into each other in such a powerful way. It crescendos into a marvelous angelic climax for just enough time towards the end and leaves you wondering more about what’s to come.

The track itself is a wonderful sign regarding the album. I truly cannot wait to hear the fully envisioned compilation. Listen to the new single below, and fully submerge into the depths of Corsten.
