House DJ and producer Erick Morillo faces charges after his arrest on Wednesday for sexual battery. The incident took place last December in his Miami beach house.
Miami Local 10 reports that the forty nine year old electronic music artist and the victim were both working as DJs at a private party on Star Island. The two “later went to Morillo’s home on La Gorce Drive for drinks, along with another woman.”
Morillo “made several advances towards her, some sexual in nature, but she refused all of his attempts.” She confirmed with the police that she went to sleep by herself in the house.
According to the police report, the next morning, she “reported waking up nude on the bed, with Mr. Morillo standing on the side of the bed also nude.”
The victim then called 911, and Erick Morillo denied all accusations. This past Wednesday, a rape kit tested positive with Morillo’s DNA. The DJ turned himself in with his attorney, according to the police report.
Morillo is well known for the 1993 hit ‘I Like to Move It’. It was was featured in the animated film Madagascar. He has active in been in the electronic music industry since 1982.
