Colyn is once again making waves with his latest EP Bridges In The Sky on Rüfüs Du Sol’s Rose Avenue label. The two-track compilation dazzles all with his effervescent sound and style. Bringing melodic techno to light, the Dutch producer showcases what his ethos is about and gives his all after Concepts of Love.
A Look Inside
Firstly, the title track ‘Bridges In The Sky’ features the airy vocals of Maurits Colijnhas. He displays high-quality audio production in this, perfect for listening on cold, late nights. Moreover, it is hypnotic and smooth, with a melody that is both poetic and soothing. As the chords arpeggiated, it exudes a dreamscape vibe. In addition, the breakdown is mind-bending with the echoing chords over the percussion. As if you were floating through liquid and trying to escape, you can’t escape the sultry sounds of this song.
Secondly, ‘Caroussel’ takes on a darker tone, with a rattling bassline and mysterious melody. If percussion could trumpet, that is what’s happening with this track. Listen closely to the different elements that come together for this interesting track. Journey through space and time here as the euphoria kicks in on nostalgic techno sounds.
A Word From Colyn:
“‘Bridges In The Sky’ represents a hopeful look into the future. It has obviously been a really difficult year for all of us. [With] ‘Bridges In The Sky’ I wanted to tell a story of opportunity, the story of recovery and looking up. I am really happy with how the airy vocals and the emotional, yet uplifting synths, have come together.
‘Caroussel’ is a bit more of a deeper cut that slowly transforms from a more timid groove, towards a more melodic euphoric journey. Definitely, a track that has been working well for me during the few opportunities I have had to play my music live in the last year. I think Rose Avenue is the perfect home for these two tracks, as they fit their philosophy and I love to work with their amazing team. So definitely a shout out to the boys from RÜFÜS DU SOL and the team that’s working on all things Rose Avenue.”Colyn on Bridges In The Sky EP
Above all, the track feels at home in this place. Family members of the label include the Lastlings, Cassian, and Township Rebellion. Heavily endorsed by RÜFÜS, Solomun, Joris Voorn, Patrice Bäumel, Damian Lazarus, and Tale of Us, he’s become a techno tastemaker. As he continues to move through the digital and musical space, we can’t wait to see what else he comes up with.
