Last year, Day Zero kicked off the would-be chosen year with a spectacular event. However, it will not be returning this year, as it has delayed its April date to January 7th, 2022. Announced via Facebook, it joins the slew of other festivals planned for the first half of 2021 in postponement.
Located in the tropical jungle of Cenote dos Palmas, the one-day event is all about house and techno. There is no better way to celebrate music than on a beach in Mexico. This is Damian Lazarus’ festival, a must-see, must-hear, must-do event that lasts 18 hours. It’s Burning Man meets Ibiza in the beautiful city of Tulum.
Last year, they boasted a hefty all-star lineup. It featured Dubfire, Audiofly, Bedouin, Francesca Lombardo, &ME, Serge Devant, Art Department, and Damian Lazarus himself. Underneath the stars and sunrise, artists play while attendees dance to melodic playa/industrial techno, and house blasted on Funktion One systems.
What’s Day Zero Tulum About?
The magic is in the details of this festival, where its location is everything. From dense tree-lined jungle to the water, you can actually swim to the main stage. Vibrating along a dirty bass line, you cool yourselves off from the heat of the music. Journey through the hills, nestle in the amphitheater, or flock to the euphoric Club Stage for ambient, mood beats.
Its production value is state-of-the-art, filled with lasers, beaded lanterns, and decked-out chill zones for your leisure. Indulge in the chakra zones or engage in Holi, a color-bomb session exactly like the one in India. Mayan culture is a huge part of this event, and embodies the spirit of it. Fire spinners, dancers, and Mayan performers come out to celebrate with you on this glorious all-nighter.
