Last year when the pandemic forced cancellations of live events across the globe, we held onto the hope that by Summer 2021, they would be back. As of now, this does not seem to be a realistic case. Hangout Music Festival just announced the cancellation of their May 2021 dates. However, the festival is exploring options to throw the event during Fall 2021. If this does not happen, it will be pushed back to May 2022.
Sadly, the Hangout Festival cancellation is not the first and will not be the last cancellation for festivals. This decision comes as the pandemic continues to rage, and sadly, isn’t shocking. At the end of January, Coachella/Stagecoach announced that they will also cancel their April 2021 dates and explore options in the fall. In the UK, Glastonbury was also put on hold.
In the statement made by Hangout Fest, they state:
“For those diehard fans still holding tickets, we love you and recognize that some of you may need some relief. You will be receiving an email in the coming weeks regarding the process for exchanging or refunding tickets.”

Ultimately, the decision to cancel events is never an easy one; particularly for event groups, artists, and venues that are struggling. It comes down to our safety. We are all treading through these uncharted territories together, and patience is the name of the game. For the time being, we need to stay safe and stay positive.
