Face Masks Now Legally Mandated on Ibiza Beaches

While many areas are opening up, new precautions are emerging. Summer in Ibiza might look a little different this year – as of March 30, masks are now mandatory in public spaces. These spaces include “public roads, in open-air spaces and in any closed space for public use or that is open to the public.” Masks are required for everyone over the age of six.

Being the popular tourist and party destination that it is, Ibiza is preparing to open up again for international travel. Spain created this law last summer, but the Balearic Islands were exempt up until now. Originally implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19, mandatory mask wearing also applies to Ibiza as in-person events pick back up.

The popularity of Ibiza led to this enforced law, and paints a picture of a possible summer. A post-COVID summer. As of now, details of Ibiza’s re-opening and international travel are still uncertain. But, one thing is for sure. If you’re headed to Ibiza, be sure to bring your mask.
