Deadmau5 is developing a virtual music platform and entertainment experience on Manticore Games’ platform, Core. This is his second collaboration with Core, announced this past Tuesday on opening night of Gamescon. Named Oberhasli, this is an interactive space featuring music, games, and other interactive content created by the man. Fans can meet virtually and socialize while consuming all the immersive offerings. Ready player one, anyone?
This could be something even more unique than what’s been done by other artists in the past. Virtual reality has come a long way from Fortnite concerts. Now, he’s looking to build a persistent home for all things mau5. In a statement, Joel said the following:
“Creating a world like Oberhasli has been a vision of mine for years now, but I quickly discovered how daunting it can be to create a multiplayer experience as a solo developer. The amazing thing about Core is that anyone can jump in and create content regardless of experience or resources. We’ve seen virtual concerts in the past, but after making a splash, they fizzle out. [There’s no shelf life to them. With Oberhasli, I want to create a mainstay for the artists’ metaverse, regularly updating it over time. [Switching] things up and keeping it cohesive with real-world news and ancillary events.”
Manticore is an independent games company based in San Mateo. The platform unveiled last year, aiming to make video game design more accessible. This platform allows creators to create and publish games along with customizable pre-made assets, including over 20,000 games across multiple genres. The gaming company is thrilled to be working with Zimmerman again, to create a Metaverse built by thousands and share among millions. The project debuts on Core on October 14th with an exclusive live performance from deadmau5.
