The English government is halting plans that require citizens to show vaccine passports at clubs and large events. Only a week ago the UK said they were pushing forward with the requirement. But now their health secretary Sajid David happily confirms they’ve reversed the decision (DJ Mag)

“We’ve looked at it properly and, whilst we should keep it in reserve as a potential option, I’m pleased to say that we will not be going ahead with plans for vaccine passports,” David said to the BBC.

The English government’s initial announcement for a vaccine passport requirement came in July. It would have taken effect once everyone over 18 had two doses of a COVID-19 injection (DJ Mag). However, according to AP News, many in Britain were not fond of that idea. Being that England is a country that doesn’t usually require identification documentation from citizens.

Some places around the world are still planning to require vaccine passports at clubs and other sizeable events. For example, Scotland states that they are moving forward with the requirement and New York nightclubs are asking for at least one dose as of August (DJ Mag).

Keep an eye on your local venues and events to see what their protocols or vaccine passport plans are.
