Everyone knows that Apple is one of the largest companies out there right now. And Merriam-Webster tweeted out an update to their dictionary that shows Apple in quite an interesting perspective. Words and terms like dad joke, face-palm, first world problem, ginger and even NSFW have all been added already and this week, they announced the newest word: sheeple!

The word is defined as, “people who are docile, compliant, or easily influenced.” What does this have to do with one of the top tech companies of the world? They used the company in a great example of the word’s usage. It said, “Apple’s debuted a battery case for the juice-sucking iPhone—an ungainly lumpy case the sheeple will happily shell out $99 for.” It’s a pretty hard hit on Apple, to say the least.
We should all realize that Merriam-Webster’s Twitter account is one to follow. It’s more than just word of the day tweets to catch up on a larger vocabulary. They throw a political stance in a recent tweet about misogyny and Hilary Clinton. And the addition of this shade thrown at Apple gives us a solid view on what they think about their dominance too.
