Klingande – Alive
Klingande just released his debut album – aptly named The Album. We’re going to break down what makes it so special by listening to one of my favorites – ‘Alive’. Klingande’s inclusion of acoustic instrumentals really brings this track to life.
Soft guitar strumming and a high male vocal start the track off well. The lyrics talk about making something of yourself and showing the world that you’ve lived.
The percussion takes a backseat as the vocal melody swells to a chorus – with strings filling the tension beautifully. A final drum fill leads into the chorus breakdown, with the violin leading the pack.
I really enjoy the track for its similarities to the strings in Clean Bandit’s acclaimed ‘Rather Be’ – masterfully showing how to integrate acoustic with electronic elements. Klingande has an upbeat signature sound, and certainly plays upon his strengths in both this track and the entire debut album as a whole. He prides himself as being a champion of the melodic house genre, and consistently puts out tracks and remixes with a familiar uplifting sound.
