Hyundai-owned car brand, Genesis, pulled an Odesza and showed off a drone display of their logo. This publicity stunt is well intended to promote their brand and is quite the tool. One of the ways to grab someone’s attention is definitely to look up at the sky. You see it in marriage proposals, music shows, and now this.

The choreography is actually stunning, as the drones hover over the river along the LED-lit skyline. From the logo to the outlines of their G series models, it ends with “Hello China”. This is a marvelous spectacle to behold and we wonder if anyone was around in public to watch it.

They didn’t do it just for publicity. It also broke the Guinness World Record for most Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in the air at the same time. Using 3,281 drones, the display set off over Shanghai on March 29th. How are we just finding out about this now? No idea, but it’s a neat trick nonetheless. Its previous record holder came from Damoda Intelligent Control Technology using 3,051 drones in September 2020. Russia attempted the World Record prior to them days earlier with 2,200 drones.

Drone light shows could be the next thing in entertainment. I’ve seen drone racing and we’ve seen drone light shows so making them part of this new festival season could be something. It’s not going to be as great as fireworks but if the venue allows for it and if the set vibes call for it, then why not? Drones have certainly improved since we first started using them. Now, they can deliver your packages and it’s only a matter of time before a company turns it into an every day use item.
