Here’s an interesting interview that Calvin Harris did with Forbes from one of his recent performances as part of his residency at Hakkasan Las Vegas. Adam Wiles, the man you probably know as Calvin Harris, talks about how he got to being one of the top DJ’s in the world coming from a modest upbringing in Dumfries, Scotland. Although today many have fled MySpace for other social networking site such as Facebook and Twitter, without MySpace there may not have been a Calvin Harris as it was through that particular medium that he connected with the legendary Tommie Sunshine and signed a record deal. It wasn’t always easy; from working at a fish factory, to moving to London for a year and then subsequently moving back to Scotland to live at home with his parents, success did not seemingly happen overnight. He also touches on the transition from his live shows, which used to feature an actual band with instruments and Calvin himself singing lead on the vocal tracks, to DJing and the blow up of dance music as a genre.
